Description: Official testing for the 2010-2011 Anchorage Fire Explorer Post 264 Captain Promotion. Candidates will be ranked based on their performance in 4 areas. The highest ranking candidate will be promoted to the rank of Explorer Captain.
Pre-requisites: Those members who currently hold the rank of Senior Explorer.
Tentative Test Date: October 19, 2010
Testing areas:
Written Test
Candidates will be tested on the following subjects:
· Essentials of Fire Fighting 5th Edition, chapters 1,3,4,5,7,9,10,11,13,14,15
· Explorer Post 264 Constitution and By-Laws
· Fire and Emergency Services Exploring: Safety Issues – Learning For Life
Instruct a 10 Minute Class
Candidates should prepare a short fire service related class. Assume you are instructing a small group of probationary explorers.
Points will be awarded based on:
· Preparation
· Presentation
· Candidates knowledge of the topic being presented
· Overall Effectiveness of the course
Practical Test
Candidates will act as fire fighter in a first in Fire Attack
Points will be awarded based on the “Lower Forward”
· Scene Safety
· Skills
Oral Interview
A structured oral board interview with members of post 264 and Anchorage Fire Department Staff
Candidates should wear appropriate attire and be prepared to answer standard oral board questions as well as content listed under written test subjects.
